Urinetown - Zoom Never Looked This Good

Performing in "Urinetown" was a truly unforgettable experience. Directed by Todd Underwood, the show was a testament to the resilience and creativity of the cast and crew. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we could not rehearse and perform in person. Instead, we had to rely on Zoom meetings and individual recordings to bring the show to life.

At first, I was worried about how we could pull off a musical on Zoom. But as rehearsals began, I was amazed by the creativity and dedication of the cast and crew. We set up a section of my dorm room as a makeshift studio and filmed each scene in our rectangular boxes on the screen.

As the show's lead, Bobby Strong, I knew I had a lot of work ahead of me. Not only was this a demanding role, but we also had to figure out how to make it work on a virtual platform.

One of the biggest challenges of performing on Zoom was the lack of physical connection with my fellow cast members. We couldn't hold hands, hug, or even stand close to each other like we would in a live performance. It took some getting used to, but we found ways to connect emotionally through our performances and the use of props and costume changes.

Overall, performing in "Urinetown" on Zoom was a unique and memorable experience that pushed me to adapt and explore new ways of storytelling. I'm grateful for the opportunity and can't wait to see what the future holds for virtual performances.
